Kodansha y Production I.G., anunciaron que ya hay "luz verde", para comenzar con una nueva serie de anime de Ghost in the Shell de Masamune Shirow. Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Soporte Alone Complex) y Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) estarían a cargo de la serie.
